Where is the handbrake in the Nissan Leaf?

The Nissan Leaf 2022 uses a foot-operated parking brake next to the break instead of a traditional handbrake.  

 

  • To engage the parking brake press the "P" (park) symbol on the gear stick. Then press down the parking brake with your foot (on the left of the footbrake) until it clicks at the bottom and stays depressed. 

  • To disengage the parking brake, press the parking brake pedal down with your foot, and slowly lift it up until it remains still at the top. Use the brake pedal to hold the car and put the car in the correct gear to begin your journey

You'll see a light above the gearstick slightly to the left, which indicates which gear the car is in. 

 

Drive: move the gearstick right and down. 

 

Neutral: move the gearstick right and hold. 

 

Reverse: move the gearstick right and up. 

 

Park: press the 'P' button on the centre of the gearstick.

How do I start the car?

  1. With your foot pressed on the footbrake, press the vehicle power button
  2. The vehicle dashboard lights will turn on showing the car is ready to drive

How do I park the car?

Once the car is safely in a parking spot follow these steps to end your trip:

  1. Hold the footbrake and press the ‘P’ button on the gearstick
  2. Apply the handbrake by pressing the handbrake pedal on the left of the footbrake
  3. Once the handbrake is applied you can release both pedals, and press the power button of the car

How do I use the headlights and turn signals?

The Nissan Leaf's headlights can be turned on and off using the headlight switch on the left side of the dashboard. Rotate the switch to the right to turn on the headlights, and to the left to turn them off. The switch has several positions that can be used to adjust the brightness and direction of the headlights.

The indicator signal switch is to the left of the steering wheel. Push the switch down to indicate left and up to indicate right.

How do I adjust the wing mirrors?

The mirrors are adjusted using buttons positioned near the window controls on the driver's door. Select either the left or the right button, depending on which you want to adjust, then simply move the switch to move the mirror in the corresponding direction.
