How to refuel your Zipcar

Nobody can run on empty - our vehicles are no exception! That's why we include fuel with every trip to make it easy for you to top up when necessary.

Remember, to always leave at least 1/4 tank. This is a really important to the safe of running of vehicles and key to maintaining the car sharing community. The vehicles need 1/4 tank of fuel, so that the next members is able to use the vehicles for any type of journey Remember that topping up is free! 

Fuel's on us! Every trip includes fuel, plus a mileage of 60 miles/day. If you go over the 60 miles, there's a per-mile charge from just 29p/mile, depending on your vehicle. If your vehicle is low on fuel, just take it to the most convenient station and top up, paying with the car's fuel card.

Remember to use the fuel relevant to the vehicle, this can be found inside the fuel cap, and premium fuels are not allowed. 

The fuel type of the vehicle you are in should be clearly labelled on the vehicle, and in the app. 

Please fill up with standard fuel known as E10 - please do not use premium fuel (E5).  We have a team who regularly service and maintain all our vehicles, so this isn't necessary. 

For our electric vehicles, we do our best maintain the charge levels of the cars however some times you may need to charge them yourselves especially on longer trips. We recommend using the QR code in the car to find our videos on how to charge them and which connection types to use. 

You can use any major petrol station or supermarket. Try to avoid independent stations or motorway stations, as these stations aren't often part of the fuel card network we use and may result if you having to pay for the fuel and submit a refund request. 

If you realise you've used the wrong fuel for your vehicle please stop driving immediately as significant damage can be caused to the engine.
